German Shorthaired Pointers, wingshooting and hunting are our passions. They are the driving force behind our breeding objectives and vision – to produce outstanding, world class German Shorthair gundogs that have the drive, stamina, game-finding ability and versatility to function efficiently in all of Southern Africa’s diverse wingshooting and hunting environments, from the Cape to the Border to the Bushveld.
German Shorthaired Pointers, or GSPs, in South Africa have traditionally been excellent versatile gundogs for Bushveld wingshooting and hunting. When we first got involved in the breed, however, we recognised a real need for greater hunting drive, ranging capability, pace and better conformation, all of which would contribute to making them equally functional when wingshooting in open terrain. We felt that this would make them truly versatile, and that the most constructive contribution we could make to the breed in Southern Africa would be to improve these qualities without compromising what we already had.
Common sense also told us that to achieve systematic breed improvement, the fairly limited local gene pool would inevitably require the ongoing addition of new and proven genetic resources. With that in mind, we initiated a breeding and importation programme in 1995 that we continue to follow to the present day.
We have carefully and consistently selected top bloodlines from America that have not only excelled in the highly competitive US Field Trial environment, but that also have either proven versatility or a strong component of recent German breeding. These outstanding imported bloodlines, combined with South African bloodlines, are consistently producing what we set out to achieve – exciting, versatile gundogs that excel in the field. Quality puppies are occasionally available from our planned litters.
